iCED FAQ

FAQ

  1. Why is the cost so high?  The ABC Dictionary is licensed. The typical cost of this same dictionary in other dictionary products is around USD $60 and the print edition of this dictionary is typically more. In addition, our licensing and royalty agreement requires us to pay certain minimum amounts regardless of how much we charge. If we are not able to fulfill our obligations, we won't be able to offer you this high-quality dictionary. We think our current pricing is a good compromise between what this dictionary is offered for on other platforms and what people are willing to pay for on the iPhone platform, which has typically been significantly less that what people pay on other platforms.
  2. I bought iCED Lite, can I get an upgrade discount? Unfortunately, Apple currently does not provide any way to do this through iTunes, otherwise we would. Because of this situation, we've kept iCED Lite at a low cost.
  3. Why does iCED Pro only run on iPhone OS 3.x while iCED Free and iCED Lite have remained compatible with iPhone OS 2.2.x? iCED Pro is our flagship product and will have the most features. Some of these features will require iPhone OS 3.x such as the ability to purchase other dictionaries within the app itself. We will always try to keep the application compatible with older versions of the iPhone OS if feasible. If you do not intend on upgrading beyond iPhone OS 2.2.1, you should used the Free or Lite edition. These editions will likely remain compatible with iPhone OS 2.2 and iPhone OS 2.2.1.
